Universal Code of Conduct (UCoC)
The Universal Code of Conduct provides a universal baseline of acceptable behavior for the entire Wikimedia movement and all people who participate in it.
Introduction: The Universal Code of Conduct aims to help create and maintain safe, inclusive, productive, and collaborative spaces. It applies to all Wikimedia projects globally, as well as to all spaces managed by the Wikimedia Foundation.
Expected Behavior
- Respect, civility, and collegiality
- Assume good faith and remain supportive
- Consensus-building and collaborative work
- Responsible communication and constructive criticism
- Respect for volunteer time and efforts
Unacceptable Behavior
- Harassment in any form
- Abuse of power, privilege, or influence
- Trolling, insulting, or making personal attacks
- Publishing private information of others
- Threats of violence or violent language
- Discrimination based on personal characteristics
Friendly Space Policy (FSP)
The Friendly Space Policy helps create welcoming, inclusive environments at Wikimedia events.
Core Principles:
- Be respectful and considerate to all participants
- Be inclusive and welcoming of diverse perspectives
- Communicate openly with respect for others
- Be collaborative and supportive
- Value constructive criticism and disagreement
Anti-Harassment Policy
Wikimedia events are dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, or technical ability.
Harassment includes but is not limited to:
- Offensive verbal comments related to personal characteristics
- Sexual images in public spaces
- Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
- Harassing photography or recording
- Sustained disruption of talks or other events
- Inappropriate physical contact
- Unwelcome sexual attention
Reporting and Enforcement
Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately. Event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the event.
If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact event organizers immediately.
